Piwakawaka (Years 4, 5 and 6)
We have finally completed our mosaic! Now we just need some good weather so that we can ad it to the path outside.
Nathan proudly shows off his lamb.
Calf club was a wonderfully busy time. Piwakawaka was transformed by some marvellous floral creations.
Term 3 and 4 has seen the senior hub investigating electricity. We have been working on a giant map of the area, using our new found knowledge of electric circuits, to create different ways of using power. Our girls have been busy making a blinking Christmas tree.
Welcome to the Piwakawaka class page!
We are a combined Year 4, 5 and 6 class and our teacher is Mrs Jess Lorimer.
Term 1 – 2
Me and My Environment was the main focus for the start of 2021. The tamariki learnt about who we are and where we come from. We wrote our Pepeha and illustrated them, displaying them on the wall of the classroom. Due to a nationwide lockdown we ended up covering this topic over two terms.
Water was the enviro topic in Term 2, looking at where it originates from and discussed how water is used in our daily lives. The tamariki prepared a speech on their own topic or a topic provided by Mrs Lorimer. The speeches were performed in front of the whole Hub.
The focus this term is Science and the students present at a senior school Science Fair, which is open to the school community to come and see in the school hall. The tamariki are also continuing with their Water theme as the second lockdown for the year interrupted the time they were meant to spend investigating this thoroughly.
